A man at a computer terminal. |
I got the email below yesterday:
Hi!
I know your password is: (A real password I haven't used for awhile)
Some time ago I infected your computer with mine private malware ( RAT ) Remote
Administration Tool.
I collected absolutly everything from your computer, your private photos, videos, all
contacts, I got access to all your accounts.
My malware even gave me control over your webcam and microphone, yes, such things exist,
you can google it!
WHILE YOU HAVE MASTRUBATED I RECORDED A VIDEO OF YOU (through your webcam)!!!
You know this all isn't a joke! You got the proof above!
After that I removed the malware, right now it's no longer on your computer.
What you think will happen, if I publish absolutly everything on social network, to all
your contacts, and everywhere else?!
We both know that your life won't be the same.
So I give you the chance to stop me, pay exactly: 1500$ with bitcoin.
I think it's a very good price, compared to living hell.
If you don't know where to buy bitcoin, Google: "Where to buy bitcoin?", it's
very easy for example with credit card.
The use of the password bothered me because I've always been extremely careful with passwords.
What made me discount this entirely was the fact that not only have I never masturbated at my computer terminal (honest!), I don't have a webcam.
Scams like this are a numbers game for the scammer. If they'd bought 100,000 email addresses with old passwords on the dark web and emailed them all and got just 5,000 gullible masturbators to fork over the money, they'd have made a cool $7.5 million, all without leaving their dank little basement. The trade off is that they'll have lived a life without honor.
